Taking part in the IHG Green Week 2014, the IHG hotels focused on measuring the impact on environment, reducing use of energy, water and waste disposal, cutting down carbon emissions and raising guest and staff awareness of environmental concerns. In addition, there were many exciting activities during the event to engage all members in the process of leading environmental changes, including: Green Engage trainings, building floating treatment wetland, tree planting & watering, complimentary cyclo tours around West Lake, green-themed menus for staff, and encouraging staff and guests to bike, walk or take public transportation. According to the General Manager of InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, Mr. Adam McDonald: “Going green is an approach that is based on our commitment to the triple bottom line of profit, people and planet. Our local footprint does not only focus on building a better economic wealth for our people but also on environmental concerns”. To the Intercontinental Hotels Group, environmental protection is always considered as the most important criteria for the products/services evaluation and selection of guests.
